Maison Acacia

Property Location

Dauphin lies in the folds of the Luberon mountains, in the National Park. From the medieval walls of the ancient village the spectacular view stretches to the distant Alps. The narrow, cobbled streets and secret pathways of the village make it very picturesque, as well as safe and enjoyable for children. The calls of birds and children, are generally the only sounds to break the restful silence. From the kitchen balcony you can watch village life take place below, and if you are inclined to take part, the people of Dauphin are friendly and welcoming. The best boulangerie and restaurant in the area are but a short walk from the house.Within 15kms there are ancient sites for culture, old market towns for food and crafts, mountain ranges for walking, and lakes for swimming.

Local Facilities/Places of Interest

Visit the 11th Century market town of Forcalquier, its past importance reflected in its renaissance fountain and grand buildings. The town is overwhelmed each Monday morning with a fabulous market, particularly good for food lovers.Manosque, on the other side of the hills, is another town of historical importance, still extant within its ramparts. The Observatory of Haute Provence, nestling in the oak covered hills across the valley, is located here because of the clarity of the sky. It is open to the public once a week, or you can just sit on the roof terrace at night and enjoy the stars without a telescope. The Luberon and Pays de Forcalquier are quite simply living history in a spectacular setting. The landscape varies between one valley and the next, from stark and beautiful rock formations to lush valley floors, filled with wild flowers and flowering chestnuts in spring, lavender in summer.
