Situated on the western edge of the Deux-Sevres Department within Poitou-Charente, Usseau is a small, quiet rural village, benefitting from its own boulangerie/shop, bar/cafe/restaurant and post office only a few minutes' walk away. The Atlantic coast, with the stunning port of La Rochelle, the seaside resort of Chatellailon and the beautiful islands of Isle de Re and D'Oleron, is only a half hour's drive. To the east and north, the historic towns of Niort and Poitiers (with its famous Futuroscope theme park) are also easily within reach. The network of canals and rivers known locally as the Marais Poitevin or 'Green Venice', is very close by and full of excursions by boat, cycle and on foot.

Valentine Cottage has a completely private walled rear garden, with full access for guests to other garden areas, as well as the swimming pool with its large terrace, lawned play area and gazebo with table and chairs. A barbeque and garden furniture are provided. Inside, there is a large open plan lounge area with open log fire, a dining area and fully fitted kitchen. The kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine, oven/hob, microwave and plenty of crockery, cutlery, glassware, ovenware and utensils. Upstairs, a double bedroom with fitted wardrobes, second bedroom with three single beds and wardrobe, bathroom with bath/over shower and twin wash basins and separate WC completes the offer. Cots and high chairs can be provided. Sorry, pets are not allowed!

Places of Interest

As above, the Atlantic coast is stunning and within half an hour's drive. The world famous aquarium at La Rochelle is a must, among the many other attractions to be found wandering around the old streets of La Rochelle. The Isle de Re, with its romantic capital, St Martin de Re, is a fantastic place to wander, eat and just relax to take in the stunning setting. The Foret de Chize, with its walks and famous Zoorama, is a very short drive from Usseau and very popular with families. The Marais Poitevin has an endless supply of memorable days out, on the rivers or just walking or dining in the many riverside villages. Niort, with its historic river frontage, has much to offer with good shopping, many restaurants, museums and other tourist attractions.
